How to deal with Introverted Students

Introverted students are more comfortable or enjoy activities that they can do themselves rather than having to be with other people. As parents of students at school, teachers should be able to recognize and understand the personality and way of learning of students. The teacher cannot force introverted students to behave like extroverted students because they can make children depressed. Then, how do you deal with introverted students? Come on, we know!

1. Introducing the surrounding environment to students

Introverted children have a difficult tendency to socialize with their surroundings. So as a teacher, you can invite them to get acquainted with their environment gradually. Introverted children may also need time to be comfortable and open with their teacher or friend at school. Give them time and don't force them to be able to mingle with all friends. However, keep embracing and accompanying them in every activity so that they do not feel alone. Slowly, their courage will grow little by little.

2. Give students freedom of choice

Introverted children tend to accept whatever is given or chosen by others. If this habit is allowed, children can lose their initiative. For that, try giving them the opportunity to choose. For example in choosing a seat in class. Give introvert students the choice to determine the sitting position they want. If he is not brave or reluctant to express his opinion, give a chair that is located on the edge or behind. This position can usually make an introverted child feel more comfortable.

3. Encourage them to be brave to appear

The teacher / teacher can also help children to be bolder and out of their comfort zone by giving them the opportunity to appear. Make activities in class that can make children dare to express opinions or express disagreements. Encouraging them to be more courageous does not mean forcing them. Let the introverts see their friends appear first and continue to give them support to be more confident to show their abilities in front of people.

4. Develop student talents

Usually introverted students prefer to be "behind the scenes" people. So, give them the opportunity to pursue and develop what they are interested in. This will be the key for teachers to help introverted children. Giving them the opportunity to develop their preferred talents can also increase the confidence of an introverted child.

5. Give students praise
Introverted children may tend to rarely express their wishes or hopes openly. However, they are still children who will be happy if their achievements are proud and given praise. So, give praise and a small award for each student achievement. Giving praise can help an introvert child build his confidence. If, his confidence grows more children will be more open and mingle with the surrounding environment.

Introverted children do need more time to express their opinions openly. They will process their own thoughts and opinions before giving it to others. Besides that, studying in a class with few students or even private lessons can help children introvert better, you know.
